We're Hiring a Student Research Assistant
 
$18 an hour – 35 hours/week for 10 weeks (June 25 to August 31, 2018)
Location: Work from home, ideally in the Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge or Guelph region
 
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Managing Director, and working under the supervision of the Researcher/Database Administrator, the Research Assistant will populate a database to contribute to an online map of Ontario’s arts and learning sector. The ideal candidate will tirelessly mine the internet for detailed data and will keep immaculate records of data sources. He or she may also be required to use additional research methods, including emails and phone calls. The Research Assistant will be able to work from home with minimal supervision, with regular in-person meetings and phone calls.
 
Roles and Responsibilities:
Research
  • Research and compile data gathered from various sources, including the internet, online surveys, email and phone calls
  • Input data collected into database and ensure map is updated and representational of sector
Database Management 
  • “Clean” database records, which could include adding information to current contacts to complete their profiles, and/or merging and removing duplicate records
  • Input content to our events calendar, including national third-party events
Other duties
  • Working with other staff, ensure that the database records are maintained and updated in an accurate manner
  • Offer input on the functionality and design of the map
  • Other duties as required
 
Requirements:
A student enrolled in a post-secondary program for September 2018
Access to a computer and the internet
Extremely organized with acute attention to detail
Excellent typing and data entry skills
A self-starter with a professional and friendly demeanor
