Community Arts Investment Program (CAIP)
Encouraging public awareness and appreciation of the arts, increasing access to quality local arts programming, and enhancing London's desirability as a community.
General Information
Administered by the London Arts Council and funded by the City of London, the Community Arts Investment Program has supported a range of artistic disciplines, including film and multimedia arts, literature, music, performing arts (such as dance and theatre), and visual arts. CAIP provides the following:
- Investment in professional artists and artist collectives who live within the city of London
- Investment in registered nonprofit arts organizations located and presenting within the city of London.
Individual Artists
Project Funding: grants contribute to the research, creation or production of a specific artistic project.
- Research: allows for a period of independent research at a key moment in the artistic practice of the applicant(s) – cannot be combined with Creation and/or Production
- Creation: supports the creative process in the artistic practice of the applicant(s) geared towards future presentation/production
- Production: supports the costs of producing one or more works where there is at least one confirmed public presentation of the work(s) in a professional context
Program Priorities: To provide project investments to a range of individual professional artists within the City of London that:
- Will further the development and creation of innovative new work
- Will present/produce existing work of a high artistic merit
- Encourages artistic activity encompassing diversity through tradition, repertoire and artistic development
- Encourages collaborations
- Increases access to volunteer opportunities for Londoners (where applicable)
- Offers Londoners accessible opportunities to engage in and experience the arts
- Enhances London’s desirability as a community of choice
Program Application Requirements:
- Applicant(s) must be a London resident(s) and conduct their business primarily in London
- Applicant(s) shows artistic ability, innovation and originality
- CAIP does not fund 100% of an applicant’s proposed budget. Applicant(s) must indicate (where applicable) a range of revenue sources including earned, private sector and government revenue
- Only non-profit activities are eligible
