00:21:31 Kathleen Michalchuk: Kathleen here - I meant to mention that as a volunteer I sit on the Board for Chaban, as well as being an instructor and a dancer so keen to hear other approaches to digital learning. 00:24:03 Sandra, TAP Centre for Creativity: Sandra at TAP Centre. I am sorry but this morning I was called into an urgent executive meeting at 2:30pm so I can no longer participate in the conversation today but I am looking forward to reviewing the recording. I hope it is a great discussion. 00:33:39 Nicole Kazemzadeh: Our music colleagues from our board have started weekly or bi-weekly google meets to share ideas, brainstorm, and strategize for online learning. It's really strengthened our music community, something that wasn't really strong before. That's a positive that has come out of this! We have no arts consultant or lead at our board, unfortunately 00:35:30 Theresa Harrington: TCDSB has an arts resource person who is in charge of providing information to all arts teachers. She has been wonderful, sending links to resources as well as organizing zoom meetings for all of us regarding evaluation during this time. 00:35:50 Nicole Kazemzadeh: I wish we had that here, Theresa! It's a huge issue 00:36:09 evegraham: I hear her very loud and clear, there is a lot of limited access in my board 00:36:31 Theresa Harrington: I have some links for visual arts if anyone is interested. 00:37:38 Canadian Network For Arts and Learning: Please post your links. 00:38:03 Theresa Harrington: Ok, will do that. 00:42:14 P0080443: I think a number of educators have been operating with the understanding (hops?) that this shift/pivot has been put into place to sustain us until the end of the school year. However, it now seems that we're in a place where we need to plan for the continuance of virtual Arts classrooms and experiences in September and for some time thereafter. 00:42:28 P0080443: *hope (not hops) 00:42:34 Nicole Kazemzadeh: Our staff did a funny video of a toilet paper toss at the beginning of this so that the students could see our faces 00:46:13 P0080443: To answer Larry's question, I think the "new reality" will continue to incorporate a lot of the digital resources that have been newly put into place in amalgamation with more conventional pedagogical approaches. 00:51:24 Nicole Kazemzadeh: The big problem with all of this online learning is the missed connections. The relationships, the connection through the Arts, that can only be done in person. At the post secondary level, how could a student study the tuba, for example, remotely? They are unlikely to have access to a quiet practice space. Nevermind the importance of ensemble in music. 00:53:33 Nicole Kazemzadeh: Craig, what about kits that can go out to schools? Not possible for everything, but maybe for some? 00:55:05 P0080443: The removal of in-person learning environments (with physical proximity) has been particularly detrimental for the Arts, where communal creation and collaboration is more pronounced than in other disciplines. It's one thing to practice a musical instrument in isolation, but quite another to play together in one space in a grander orchestration. Same with co-created dance choreography or producing a drama scene. The creative process is tougher to monitor for educators in order to sufficiently address assessment. 00:55:46 Alison Blackburn: mediasmarts.ca good resource for digital literacy/citizenship 00:57:10 JulieW: google's "be internet awesome" is as well. 00:58:23 Theresa Harrington: The AGO has some amazing distance lessons, I have used them quite often. 00:59:25 Nicole Kazemzadeh: My site: https://sites.google.com/wrdsb.ca/millenwoodsmusic/home 00:59:41 Nicole Kazemzadeh: Some of it wont' be visable due to limited access for board members 01:01:11 Kaitlyn: https://www.eduarts.ca/resources-for-the-arts-and-learning-sector-during-the-covid-19-pandemic 01:01:44 Theresa Harrington: Reel Canada has several films available with lesson plans that will be sent. 01:02:57 Nicole Kazemzadeh: Virtual tours? Kits of hands-on exhibits? Lessons tied to curriculum expectations? 01:03:19 JulieW: sorry - could only stay until 3. all the best to all of you 01:03:33 Kate Ducharme: Thank you for this discussion! 01:04:01 P0080443: We could use some solid procedures/directives re. instrument and material care and sanitizing. 01:04:04 Craig Cap: https://www.citywindsor.ca/residents/Culture/Windsors-Community-Museum/Pages/Online-Resources-Exploring-History-and-Culture.aspx Link to our resource page, includes our COVID journal page. 01:04:05 Jenny: Hi Craig, There are alot of great ressources available but very little in French. I think this would be helpfull. Thank you all for sharing 01:04:15 Nicole Kazemzadeh: One of the best things that's come out of this is the amount of virtual tours that have been created. My kids have been enjoying virtual symphony concerts, zoo tours, etc. from around the world. Something we wouldn't have otherwise been able to see or visit 01:04:17 Shyama: Is it possible to share the twitter handle of the participants? 01:05:01 Shyama: I would love to follow of the speakers today 01:06:24 Shyama: (I would love to follow some of the speakers today) 01:06:30 Kaitlyn: The link is here: https://www3.laurentian.ca/visual_artists/ 01:06:51 Theresa Harrington: Thank you for hosting the meeting. Nice to spend some time with you! 01:07:06 Craig Cap: Thank you everyone. 01:07:20 Kirsi - Kingston Arts Council: Thank you! 01:07:21 P0080443: Thank you for today's conversation! Nice to e-meet you all! 01:07:32 Kathleen Michalchuk: Thank you Jennifer & Larry & company for organizing this Zoom and making the recording available to all. 01:07:40 Nicole Kazemzadeh: Thanks everyone, this was great. Amazing things happening in the Arts community-as usual!
