South Simcoe Arts Council’s Annual Arts on Main 2021 – CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Are you a painter, sculptor or photographer? Would you like an opportunity to exhibit your work in New Tecumseth? Would you like to receive feedback from professional artists, and possibly win a cash prize?

Arts on Main is a juried art show established by the South Simcoe Arts Council in 2004.  This year it will  run from September 14th through October 5th. Artwork will be displayed in the front windows of businesses on the main streets of Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham. If you’d like to enter a piece of artwork in Arts on Main, the deadline is September 3rd. Please see our website for registration details.

Last year, Deborah Darling received the Ralph Hicks Best in Show award. ”It was a huge surprise, and a great honour.  My small pen and ink drawing, ‘Thou Art with Me’, was in absolutely amazing company in the Arts on Main contest—I am still pinching myself and feel encouraged to continue creating art.”

The 2020 People’s Choice winner was Daniela Torelli, a local welder, who submitted a metal sculpture using only scrap metal pieces. “Having my artwork displayed in a local business window gave me a sense of pride and accomplishment that I had never felt before.”

Whether you submit a piece to the show or not, we hope to see you on the streets of New Tecumseth appreciating the wealth of artistic talent in our community. A list of entries and their host venues will be posted on our website and Facebook by September 9th.  Please come out and vote for your favourite!

This year’s theme is “Diversity: Windows of the World.” Join us as we reflect our individual artistic expression and celebrate with us the richness of diversity in our world and in the arts.
