Cantabile introduces its 2020 Virtual Voices Program – exceptional online vocal education for children, youth, and adults

Cantabile is currently accepting members for the 2020 Virtual Voices Program. Virtual Voices is Cantabile’s hallmark music education program, reimagined to integrate seamlessly into the online learning environment. By moving our programs online, Cantabile works toward creating meaningful musical experiences for our community, using song as a tool to bring people together when so much has been pushing us apart.

How does it work?

This year we’ve redesigned our programs to adapt to the virtual environment and accommodate public health restrictions. All sessions will take place virtually via Zoom video conferencing software. Each session is recorded and archived so that children have access to the material for review, or to catch up if you miss a session.

    Virtual Voices for Children (ages 8-12)

    Virtual Voices program for CHILDREN takes place on Mondays from 4:30-5:00pm.

    Each session consists of:

    • Vocal warmups
    • Rhythm clap-back
    • Singing instruction
    • Song learning
    • Jam Sessions

    Term 1 (12 sessions)
    2020: September 14 – December 7
    *no session October 12 (Thanksgiving Monday)
    Virtual Choir Performance: December 19 @ 7:30pm

    Term 2 (14 sessions)
    2021: January 11 – April 12
    *no session February 15 (Family Day) & April 5 (Easter Monday)
    Virtual Choir Performance: May 15 @ 7:30pm

    Virtual Voices for Youth (ages 13-17)

    Virtual Voices program for YOUTH takes place on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30pm.

    Each session consists of:

    • Vocal workshop/lecture series: VOICE 101
    • Q & A sessions/discussion groups
    • Score study
    • Rehearsals – Live rehearsals plus rehearsal tracks for at-home study.

    Term 1 (14 sessions)
    2020: September 15 – December 15
    Virtual Choir Performance: December 19 @ 7:30pm

    Term 2 (14 sessions)
    2021: January 12 – April 13
    Virtual Choir Performance: May 15 @ 7:30pm

    Virtual Voices for Adults (ages 18 and up)

    Virtual Voices program for ADULTS takes place on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm.

    Each session consists of:

    • Vocal workshop/lecture series: VOICE 101
    • Q & A sessions/discussion groups
    • Score study
    • Rehearsals – Live rehearsal plus practice tracks for at-home study.

    Term 1 (14 sessions)
    Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm
    2020: September 16 – December 16
    Virtual Choir Performance: December 19 @ 7:30pm

    Term 2 (14 sessions)
    2021: January 13 – April 14
    Virtual Choir Performance: May 15 @ 7:30pm
