Introduction to Weaving Workshop

Master the ancient art of weaving in this hands on weaving workshop led by textile artist and educator Rosa Wharton. In this engaging two hour session, you will be provided with a loom and weaving material to practice the foundations of weaving. Learn how to set your loom, practice four basic weaves and be guided through creating your own small woven piece. You will explore texture, colour, and pattern while learning simple techniques that can be continued at home.

Introduction to Embroidery

Gain a strong foundation in embroidery as you learn the essential techniques in this beginner‑level workshop. You’ll set up your hoop, work with embroidery thread, and move through 4–5 foundational stitches spanning line work, filling, and simple texture. You’ll create an 8” stitch sampler that showcases each technique and serves as a practical reference for future projects.

Papermaking Workshop

We invite you to create your own paper using recyclable materials at the Small Arms Inspection Building on August 2nd. Participants will learn how to make a basic sheet, one with colour specs, and one with seeds that can be planted! There will also be an opportunity to arrange dried flowers on the finished paper. Want to create a unique piece of art for your wall or a card for a loved one? This is a great way to add a handmade touch. 

All materials included in the cost of the workshop.

Lake Field Music camp for adults

Established in 1977, this summer retreat for adults brings together amateur and professional musicians for one week of instruction and creativity in a collegial environment. Singers and instrumentalists of intermediate to advanced ability build their program from a selection of workshops and ensembles of various size and genre. Concerts by participants and faculty in the evenings offer opportunities to perform or relax and be entertained. Located on Laurier University’s Waterloo campus, NW of Toronto, full accommodations available.
