Course Description

You deserve to get paid for your work. Whether you’re writing a play by yourself, workshopping it with your collective, or planning on mounting a production, there are ways to finance a project without relying on your own money or the unpredictability of ticket sales.

The Humber School for Writers returns to the Toronto International Festival of Authors with a series of daily professional writing masterclasses led by its renowned faculty members and special guests, including Omar El Akkad, Jordan Tannahill, Sheila Heti and more. VIEW from the Inside is an award-winning program with the goal to empower youth, help to reduce the stigma of mental health issues, and build a sense of community in life’s challenges.

Within the carefully curated safety of the group, led by our accredited art therapists and teachers, mainstream, BIPOC, special needs and/or LGBTQ2S+ students benefit from creative arts therapies. Research shows these kinds of experiences can help to reduce anxiety and increase self-esteem and quality of life.

From October 27 until November 4, we're pleased to offer your students or your child's class an engaging and affordable virtual arts experience featuring our acclaimed production Old Man and the River. 

In a forest where rivers sing, trees giggle, and curious dragonflies come to visit, a grumpy little man lives all alone in his little house. Every day is exactly the same and he likes it that way. But one day...a magical creature leaps into his life and everything changes!

Registration for Tarragon's Playwriting and Dramaturgy Course with Brian Quirt is now open! AboutThis online course is an exploration of playwriting and play development practice and its relationship to dramaturgy. The work will include: in-class writing exercises; practical discussions on working with playwrights, dramaturgs and directors; and expectations for playwrights in a workshop environment.
