As the city’s designated arts development authority, Calgary Arts Development supports and strengthens the arts to benefit all Calgarians. We invest and allocate municipal funding for the arts provided by The City of Calgary and leverage these funds to provide additional resources to the arts sector. Our programs support hundreds of arts organizations, individual artists, artist collectives, and ad hoc groups in Calgary.
The Future Focus Program provides funding to arts organizations to explore a key question or challenge facing their organization and develop directions for their operations that diverge from previous or current practice in response. Organizations may be asking themselves questions about their organizational purpose, their role in the arts sector, their continued viability, or how they need to adapt their structure or approach to operate into the future. The program supports organizations through the process of investigating, identifying, planning and executing significant and strategic adaptations in their operations.
DEADLINES:
There are four deadlines for the Future Focus Exploration Phase in 2026:
Friday, February 6, 2026: Final date for consultation and/or approval to make an application.
Friday, February 20, 2026: Application deadline
Friday, May 15, 2026: Final date for consultation and/or approval to make an application.
Friday, May 29, 2026: Application deadline
Friday, August 28, 2026: Final date for consultation and/or approval to make an application.
Friday, September 11, 2026: Application deadline
Friday, October 23, 2026: Final date for consultation and/or approval to make an application.
Friday, November 6, 2026: Application deadline
Applications are due by 11:59pm on the deadline date.
Funding decisions are typically made within 8-weeks of the application deadline.
