I have been shooting photographs seriously for over 50 years; beginning in my early teens. I began drawing and painting earlier than that. After many years of struggling with painting (mainly oil on canvass) I gave it up about 20 years ago. Occasionally, I would complete a painting and be quite happy with it but, not having had any formal training, I lacked the necessary techniques to transfer the clear vision of the masterpieces in my mind to the canvass. I paid full attention to my photography.
In mid-2003, I made the quantum leap from film to digital photography. My subject material is primarily Nature... and perhaps, secondarily, Architectural. Resulting images can range from realistic to impressionistic to abstract. I am inspired by the interplay of color, mood, contrast of warm and cold, textures and the juxtaposition of opposites. I often find more interest in the details. Artistically, I am influenced by many of the French Impressionists and the Group of Seven.
