Jacqueline Steudler is a Swiss-born artist whose practice has evolved over three decades, with work held in private and public collections, including the Nova Scotia Art Bank Collection. Since relocating to Nova Scotia in 2004, her engagement with the region’s coastal landscape has informed an ongoing exploration of natural forms, material processes, and scale.
Working across thread-based sculpture, mixed media, gouache, and oil painting, Steudler’s recent work increasingly pushes the boundaries of textile practice through freehand machine embroidery and three-dimensional forms. Her approach balances control and unpredictability, translating organic structures into tactile, constructed surfaces.
Her work has been featured in publications such as International Women Celebrate and Nova Scotia’s Contemporary Artists – Volume II. Through a process-driven practice, Steudler continues to investigate how material, time, and environment intersect, with a focus on subtle transformation and the resilience of natural systems.
