Genevieve Despres

As a child, Geneviève always had a pencil in her hand. She tirelessly admired each new box of Prismacolor pencils. Growing up, after her university studies, she worked as an industrial designer for three years, but quickly returned to drawing. Illustration became the dream career for her.

For more than twenty years, she has illustrated more than forty albums, some of which have been translated into ten languages. She has been rewarded many times in various competitions, including the Libraires du Québec prize, the Governor General of Canada prize, the Elisabeth Mrazik-Cleaver prize (Canada), the Chronos prize (France) and more recently the Incorruptibles prize (France).

In 2024, she signed her first book as an author and illustrator and now has several other projects awaiting her words. She lives on the South Shore of Montreal with her family and her dog and she spends part of her summers getting inspiration by the sea in Escoumins, on the riverfront.
