As a contemporary expressionist painter working mostly in oil, Yvonne is interested in the expressive language of colour and line. Many of her paintings are landscapes, somewhat abstract, with a number of them harking back to memories of her Scottish roots. She draws inspiration for her figurative work from memory, photographs and her imagination. Often using elements of the representational as well as the abstract with the intent of retaining some truth or essence of the subject. She is always exploring a sense of place or belonging - often resulting in illusory spaces and imagined domestic realms.
