Dr. Mary-Elizabeth Brown enjoys successful parallel careers as a performer and pedagogue. She is a sought-after teacher, clinician, adjudicator and speaker in Canada and abroad. As a studio teacher, her students have excelled in both exams and competitions, and have been accepted into Canada’s major post-secondary performance programs. She holds the Bielak-Hartmann Concertmaster’s chair at the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and maintains a busy schedule as a soloist. She is a member of the Royal Conservatory of Music’s College of Examiners.

Mary-Elizabeth welcomes students of all ages and abilities from babies (via her Kindermusik Program) to young professionals at her studio in Rosemont (Montréal) and via Skype worldwide.

Featured Project

AVIVA Young Artists Program

The AYAP is Canadian (based in Montreal) and was one of the first of its kind when it was founded 9 years ago. We provide top notch distance education for young violinists via web based platforms.  We’ve had a terrific year as our international family of violinists has nearly tripled in size! Here are some highlights:

 

  • We ran our very first summer Zoom Violin Camp with amazing faculty from around the world
  • We hosted more than 20 guest artists in masterclasses and workshops
  • We launched the Intensive Weeks - an international technique a masterclass program that runs in the summer
  • We expanded our group class program to welcome students from other schools and programs.
  • We hosted 18 student recitals
  • We piloted and launched the “pre twinkle together” program that gives young children anywhere the opportunity to participate in early years music education. They receive a “twinkle box” and off we go! (pictured below)
  • We welcomed students from 5 continents.
