Maude Durand has been teaching cello for 15 years. She holds a Master’s degree in Music Education from Laval University. Having studied with Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Trainers Pamela Devenport, Jean Dexter, David Evenchick, Catherine Walker, she has completed the training for Volumes 1 through 7 of the Suzuki Method for cello. She has also completed Carey Beth Hockett’s Suzuki Group Class Techniques course for string players.
In 2005 and 2006, Mrs Durand organized a Suzuki Workshop. Over one hundred students from the Suzuki community got a chance to spend a weekend honing their skills with guest master teachers.
An active member in the Montreal Suzuki community, Maude Durand has served two terms as President of Suzuki Musique Montréal: the first from 2006 to 2008, the second from 2010 to 2012. She was re-elected again for the term of 2016-2017.
Mrs Durand was part of the string faculty at McGill Conservatory until december 2016 and teaches strings at Le Plateau school.
