Music Teacher - Piano
Rachel Anderson is a pianist with over 25 years of teaching experience. A native of Winnipeg, she has recently returned to the city from Vancouver after nearly 20 years. She is very happy to be back ‘home’ - now in Riverview with her Yamaha C5.
Rachel has a B.Mus. from the University of Manitoba and an M.A in Musicology from McGill University. As a faculty member of the British Columbia School of Music, a private instructor, an examiner and adjudicator, she has shared her knowledge of and passion for music with students at all levels of practical development.
Rachel is also a skilled and experienced administrator, event planner and public speaker as a former member of the BCRMTA. Out of creative necessity, Rachel dedicates a part of her life to her own music-making as an accompanist, chamber musician and soloist.
In the studio, Rachel strives to encourage love, attention and self-discipline in her students’ approach to learning. She loves the variety inherent in teaching and is very interested in the challenges of developing good body awareness and piano technique. She has also enjoyed and learned much from the challenges of teaching students who are on the autism spectrum.
