Olivia Vilona is a dedicated musician who is passionate about self-expression and inspiring young minds. Her goal is to provide music education that values creativity, collaboration and curiosity.
Currently, Olivia is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at Ambrose University, where she has a focus on Jazz saxophone. Her musical identity is rooted in her love for jazz and music from the 1950s to the 1980s. When she plays saxophone, she aims to create a unique, warm, deep and resonant sound. She hopes to convey a unique subtone inspired by jazz musicians such as Ben Webster and Coleman Hawkins.
Beyond playing, Olivia has three years of teaching both private music lessons with students ranging from 5-54 years old and preschool music classes. She has taught the piano, tenor and alto saxophone, bass guitar, ukulele and music theory.
As a teacher, Olivia encourages enthusiasm, curiosity, creativity, musical expression and technical skill in her students, while also considering their interests and keeping it engaging! She teaches them various techniques, genres and technical proficiency. Her ultimate goal as an educator is to inspire young minds and pass down her love of music.
After graduating from Ambrose, Olivia plans to pursue a teaching degree. She is dedicated to lifelong learning and discovering new things. Olivia hopes to make a positive impact through education and music.
