The first-ever Yukon Prize for Visual Arts Gala is on Saturday November 20th. Can’t make it to the Yukon? Anyone world-wide can tune in to the free live stream that will include a performance by popular Yukon-born musician and the reveal of the winner.

WHAT: THE EVENT WILL SELECT A WINNER FROM SIX INCREDIBLE FINALISTS WHO DEMONSTRATE THE BEST OF THE YUKON’S VIBRANT VISUAL ARTS COMMUNITY. The goal of the Yukon Prize for Visual Arts is to recognize excellence by Yukon visual artists and to be a catalyst for the promotion of Yukon visual art across Canada and internationally.

6:00 pm – 7:15 pm Yukon Standard Time / 3:00 pm – 4:15 pm Eastern Time 

Finalists: Sho Sho “Belelige” Esquiro, Joseph Tisiga, Veronica Verkley, Ken Anderson (KHÀTINAS.ÀXH), Amy Ball and Krystle Silverfox. They were selected from 107 entries.

 

Highlights (Yukon Time)

  • 6:10 pm: Speech from Julie Jai and David Trick, Co-founders of the Yukon Prize for Visual Arts 
  • 6:20 pm: Performance by Amelia Rose Slobogean 
  • 6:25 pm: Speech from Minister of Tourism & Culture Ranj Pillai
  • 6:30 pm: Musical performance by renowned Yukon-born Diyet & The Love Soldiers
  • 7:00 pm: Winner announcement, $20,000 prize awarded
