VUCAVU.education is a new educational streaming service for institutional subscriptions that has been developed by the team at VUCAVU.com . The service will be available to subscriptions starting in January 2026.

In the last few years, VUCAVU has collaborated with the arts and academic sectors nationwide to develop a platform that make independent Canadian film and video art more accessible for educational uses while using a collaborative approach that keeps the fair payment of artists at the forefront of our goals.

VUCAVU.com works with independent film and video distributors from across the country to improve access to Canadian artworks and provide greater national and international awareness of our filmmakers, video artists and our culture. We currently streams about 1,500+ films and videos with an additional 5000+ for research purposes that span 60+ years of Canadian moving image art to the public that includes works on a wide variety of topics and genres such as documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation.

VUCAVU is working to make independently made Canadian film and video art accessible for educational uses with a collaborative approach that keeps the fair payment of artists at the forefront.

VUCAVU.education’s resources available now include:

1. Educator Research Accounts
Request a free, time-limited Educator Research Account to preview and select works from the shared catalogue on VUCAVU.com that are available for educational licensing.VUCAVU’s shared catalogue spans over 50+ years of Canadian moving image art and includes documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation among many other genres.

2. Private Page Functionality
Present one or many films/videos found in VUCAVU’s catalogue to your select audience by adding the works to a secure and hidden page that can be accessed remotely by a group for a limited time. Private Pages can include links to more educational resources that provide context to the films.

3. Programming Pages
Use our platform to feature curated programs online developed by educators and emerging or established programmers. Find inspiration by exploring our curated program archive here

CURATED PROGRAMMING ON VUCAVU

CURATED PROGRAMMING ON VUCAVU

Since launching our platform in 2017, we have collaborated with curators and programmers from across the country to present film and video programs available for free streaming for a limited time. Each program includes a curatorial essay that explores the curators' selection. All the artists and curators included in these programs receive screening and curatorial fees for their participation. After the free viewing period has expired, we encourage the public to read the essays and rent works individually.
