VUCAVU

VUCAVU is a bilingual digital arts organization that works with independent film and video content and programming partners from across the country to improve access to Canadian media-based artwork and provide greater national and international awareness of our filmmakers, video artists and culture. The platform currently streams a shared catalogue that spans 50+ years of Canadian moving image art which includes 6400+ films and videos. VUCAVU shares and makes its technology accessible to the national arts sector to help Canadian artists get paid for the viewing of their artworks online.

VUCAVU.com was developed by the not-for-profit Coalition of Canadian Independent Media Art Distributors (CCIMAD) and launched in 2017. Established in 2013, CCIMAD is a group of independent Canadian film and video distributors with the goal to improve international and national accessibility to their catalogues through a shared digital distribution strategy.

VUCAVU is always working to expand its reach and to develop new partnerships. Our main goals are to invest our resources in creating new online revenue streams and aid in the dissemination of artworks made by independent Canadian artists across the country and to the rest of the world.

VUCAVU recentely launched VUCAVU.education, an educational access service for institutional subscriptions. VUCAVU.education gives educators and students access to a curated selection of independent Canadian film and video art from VUCAVU that includes documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation titles from artists across Canada, offering many unique views into the country’s cultural landscape.

> VUCAVU.education is an initiative of the VUCAVU.com platform.
