PRIDE FLAG MAKING WITH JOYELLE GOLDBARD

North Van Arts is hosting a free Pride making workshop with Joyelle Goldbard. You are invited to make a pride flag to take home, take to your office, or it can be added as a collaborative piece to be displayed within our gallery and head office space periodically through-out the year. 

This workshop is free and intended for ages 13 +. Register early as there are only 12 spots available. 

We encourage participants to come early to view, Queer Bash, an exhibit that explores the duality of pride as protest and parade, as celebration and condemnation.

Author visit: Dear Street and placemaking letter writing workshop with Lindsay Zier-Vogel

Author Lindsay ZIer-Vogel will read from her debut picture book, DEAR STREET, and lead groups from JK-Grade 3 in a placemaking exercise, asking them to write letters to things they love in their communities, that they will then hide for strangers to find, spreading place-based love in their community. 

Woodworking Workshop

With over 25 years of building willow furniture, Andrew Kent brings participants the opportunity to handcraft their own willow furniture. No experience is necessary as you will receive step-by-step guidance from design, building and fine tuning your own willow club chair or loveseat.

All tools and materials are provided.
Please note: you will be on your feet for much of the day, wear comfortable shoes.

Please bring: water bottle and bagged lunch and wear clothes you can easily move in.

Plein Air Outing at Quinceotica Farms

Enjoy a plein air experience amongst the quince trees in bloom at Quinceotica Farm in Yellow Point. This is a wonderful opportunity to leave your worries behind and spend the day outdoors. Meander, write, sketch, paint and/or meditate while seeking and celebrating inspiration in this relaxed country setting. End the session with refreshments and to option to share your work with the other participants.

Led by poet, painter and farmer John Edwards and artist/educator/curator Leona Petrak.

Guided tour of the grounds will be provided.

Acrylic Painting For Beginners

Well look no further that our *NEW 5 week beginner level acrylic painting series with award winning acrylic artist and instructor Jennifer O'Brien. Participants will work through a series of exercises and small paintings.

- Colour theory (blending, layering etc)
-The best tools to use to get the look your going for
-Composition on a canvas
-Different painting techniques

Moi à l'œuvre IX - exposition familiale

Installations lumineuses, salle magique phosphorescente, forêt enchantée en céramique, mobiles volants et courts-métrages inédits constituent ce parcours artistique à découvrir en famille. Celui-ci a été imaginé par les artistes Caroline Bolieu, Josée Bourgoin et Gabrielle Lorrain. Tou·te·s sont convié·e·s à cette exposition qui résulte d’une série d’ateliers de cocréation avec quelque 900 enfants des MRC de Kamouraska et Rivière-du-Loup ayant bénéficié du programme d’éducation artistique Moi à l’œuvre depuis l’automne dernier.
