The aims of Canada Music Week® are to bring to the attention of the public, through various means, the importance of Canadian music; to support composers and performers of Canadian music; to introduce contemporary music to young Canadians and stimulate a keener appreciation and understanding of this music; and to encourage music educators to widen their knowledge and experience of Canadian works.

The Humber School for Writers returns to the Toronto International Festival of Authors with a series of daily professional writing masterclasses led by its renowned faculty members and special guests, including Omar El Akkad, Jordan Tannahill, Sheila Heti and more. Each 90-minute class will be presented virtually and will focus on a specific aspect of writing craft. Sign up for one or attend them all! All writing levels are welcome.

Read for the Cure is an inspiring, annual literary event series, presented by Penguin Random House Canada. This year’s conversations will connect book lovers across the country with bestselling authors in support of the Environment-Cancer Fund at the Cancer Research Society. As part of BC Culture Days 2021, this workshop will introduce participants to creating a pouch made of leather or fabric with basic beadwork. The focus will be building practical skills of beading and sewing. Supplies will be available but feel free to bring your own to add your own sense of flair to your project.

While participants are encouraged to create a leather pouch for themself or a loved one, the group will be engaging in storytelling as a means to reflect on the meaning of medicine pouches and what are things they would like to carry with them in their day-to-day lives.

Le vendredi 17 septembre au soir, le festival présentera deux concerts durant lesquels une artiste-peintre créera une œuvre inspirée de la musique présentée. Cette œuvre sera officiellement dévoilée le lendemain.

“Street art” is the theme of Arts Alive! 2021, bringing together musicians, artists and artisans. On Friday, September 17, the festival will host two concerts during which a Quebec City painter will create a painting inspired by the music. The painting will be officially revealed the following day.

The Wood Buffalo Excellence in Arts Awards, is an annual program that recognizes and celebrates excellence in various areas of the arts and builds awareness of the incredible contribution artists make to Wood Buffalo.

We’re pleased to announce the program for this year’s Mighty Niagara Film Fest! We were overwhelmed with so many great submissions in our inaugural year and we look forward to sharing some of them with you.

The Mighty Niagara Film Fest has a focus on screening films made about or in Niagara, by filmmakers with connections to the region, as well as films of special interest to Niagara audiences.
