Artist in Community Education (ACE) Program

Do you work in the arts? Have you ever considered becoming a teacher?

APPLY NOW for 2019-20 to our 16 month teacher certification program in Ontario: DON’T WAIT!

The ACE program ensures that practising artists graduate each year with certification to teach in Ontario schools. Artist in Community Education students bring their professional experience in the arts to the classroom, exploring ways of learning and knowing through their unique range of skills.

ACE teacher candidates come from a broad range of backgrounds and art forms, including music, theatre, film, dance, creative writing, and visual arts. Both formal training and professional experience are considered as part of the admission process. Prospective students are required to submit a portfolio showcasing their artistic practice.

"It is easy to find people who understand that value of arts education but it is hard to find educators who are artists at heart. ACE allows artists to become qualified teachers while surrounded by like minded people and pursuing creative endeavours."  - ACE grad Alison Daley

ACE candidates complete the regular program in either elementary or secondary panels. They take the full complement of studies required of all teacher candidates in the province, but also study a unique blend of aesthetics, creativity and community programming through elective and specially scheduled opportunities.
