This workshop will be structured as a warm-up session, using specific exercises to discuss the fundamental aspects of flute tone. Flutists will be guided through basic flute mechanisms such as breathing, preparing to play, body posture, and more. We will then dive into long tones and vocalises from the book “La technique d’embouchure” by Philippe Bernold (the vocalises will be shared onscreen for those who may not own the book). There will be a Q&A session at the end of the workshop for everyone to ask questions regarding playing, repertoire, finding your path in the music field, and more.

Eligibility

  • In possession of a flute
  • Able to read music in treble clef
  • Know all the fingerings on the flute from low C to high B

"How will this workshop benefit me as a flutist?"

By the end of this workshop, flutists will have a deeper understanding of what contributes to a consistent and rich flute sound. They will be able to replicate the step-by-step processes provided during the workshop in order to always begin playing in a confident and effective manner.

Let's get fluting!
