QUSMEA is an organization dedicated to promoting music education within the Queen's and Kingston community. We are a part of the Concurrent Education Students' Association (CESA) and are completely open to everyone.

-We offer monthly Professional Development workshops and socials with topics related to the music education world.

-We also offer opportunities to get involved in the community through volunteering in local high schools, and also through a music program in the Queen's Daycare.

- Every November, we facilitate a trip to the OMEA (Ontario Music Educators' Association) conference. It is an amazing opportunity to network with other teachers, learn from the workshops, and enjoy a musical weekend. Bursaries are available!

    QUSMEA's band outreach program allows volunteers to go into local high schools and act as a teaching assistant to the music teacher. They have the opportunity to do one-on-one work with kids according to their specific instrument. This is excellent preparation for students, as many of them are in Concurrent Education at Queen's.

    Erez & Nick, and Busty and the Bass during the Y4Music Kingston Hub Launch event. Performances during the CESA community dinner.

  • Workshops

    Past events include a songwriting workshop with Craig Cardiff, Musical Theatre Education with Tim Fort, Drumming workshop with the 4 directions Aboriginal Centre, Indian Dance Workshop, ran a "how to teach music even if you're not a music teacher workshop" for Queen's Students

  • Outreach Programs

    Involvement with the Concurrent Education Students' Association in providing musical entertainment at their annual Community Dinner during the Holidays. Drumming workshop with 4 Directions Aboriginal Student Centre.
