Henry Purdy

Graduated from NSCA in 1958. Started Graphics Art Dept CFCY TV 9m 1958. Stared Commercial Art Program at The Provincial Vocational Institute in 1964. Started the Graphic Design Program at Holland College in 1969. Started the Holland College School of Visual Arts in 1977. Have continued to create art professionally since 1958 - present (60 Years). Elected into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1978. Received the Royal Arts Society Medal for work in visual arts in 1981 for his work in Atlantic region. Founding Member of the PEI Council of the Arts. Sat on the Canada Council for 6 years 1982 to 1988. On Council of the Canadian Conference of the Arts for 10 years. On the Gallery Committee of the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Life Member of the PEI Crafts Council. Received the Adrien Arsenault Arts Award in 1996 (PEI's highest Arts award. Order of Canada in 2001. Charlottetown Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
Represented in many private and company collections. Still teaching painting Classes (teaching for 54 years).
