Who We Are:

Geordie Theatre is Montreal’s leading English-language professional theatre for audiences of all ages, entertaining and engaging the imaginations of children and their families since 1980!

Geordie is a proud member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (P.A.C.T.), Quebec Drama Federation, La Maison Théâtre, Conseil québécois du théâtre (CQT), and ASSITEJ Canada.

Our Mission:

Geordie Theatre provokes thought, sparks the imagination, and challenges our audiences. We celebrate theatre’s powerful impact by working with exceptional emerging and established professional artists from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds to create plays that are relevant and enchanting; inspiring dialogue between communities, children and parents, as well as teachers and students of all ages. We are committed to developing beautiful and important works featuring the wealth of diverse voices in Quebec, Canada and abroad while continuing to build relationships with our audience and extend our reach through engaging inclusive outreach initiatives as well as through local and national touring.

What We Do:

For over four decades, Geordie Theatre has presented live English-language productions for young audiences in Quebec and abroad. Pushing artistic boundaries with provocative and important stories that speak to the experiences and challenges faced by today’s youth, Geordie delivers more than 200 performances each season and reaches more than 41,000 young people and their communities annually.

    Geordie’s Mainstage School Matinée Series makes English-language theatre accessible to all students. We offer reduced-rate tickets for Elementary school groups, High School groups, CEGEP groups, Home School groups, Pre-schools, Daycares, and Outreach organizations.

  • In-School Performances

    Geordie’s landmark 2Play School Tour runs from September to May performing in schools all over Montreal and travelling across Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes. From the Îles de la Madeleine to Chibougamau, Geordie brings professional live theatre into schools, community centres and libraries.

    Geordie Theatre School (GTS) has a variety of programming which can be brought into the comfort of your school and easily tailored to your unique needs. With unique workshop options for students, as well as for teachers and administrators, Geordie has something to inspire everyone! Our workshops are tailored to explore a specific skill, theme, or competency through the lens of theatre.

    12 weeks of theatre where kids and teens create fascinating characters, build exciting stories, and play all their favourite theatre games!

  • Camps

    With March Break camps and summer camps available, GTS is here to keep your young performer entertained and engaged when schools are closed for break.

  • Workshops

    From puppetry to stage combat, on-camera to musical theatre, our speciality workshops are perfect for expanding kids and teens’ training.
