Madeleine Wood

Madeleine is a BC artist, raised with an aptitude for drawing that developed into a fierce desire to become a painter. Her formal education began at Emily Carr University in two stints, followed by Concordia University to earn her MFA. After establishing a 20-year studio practice in Vancouver she moved to Vancouver Island, where she feels a deeper connection to nature.

The slowness of painting allows Madeleine to fully embody her relationship with the world around her, and communicate this with you. Details often overlooked in life can be profound and nuanced, and whatever attracts her eye finds meanings over time. The tendency to magnify her intimately known subjects serves her desire for study and meditation, which she hopes spills over to her students.

She has exhibited in public and commercial galleries since 1992 and her work is collected across Canada and internationally.
