Tamar Drushka

In my own painting practice I have been primarily engaged with exploring pattern and especially the contrast between mechanically reproduced pattern (e.g. wallpaper) and organic forms such as those found in nature or created by the artist’s hand. For 'Metamorphosis’, an exhibition at The Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax, I wallpapered the walls of the gallery at the start of the show and then worked into that pattern for the duration of the week to create an evolving exhibition, to highlight the contrast between the live, organic nature of the painting process versus the mechanically produced pattern.
