Jan Poynter is a professional artist, illustrator and instructor from the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada. Jan’s outstanding conceptual rendering abilities have contributed to her fine art and commercial career with expertise in watercolor and acrylic painting, pastel, and traditional scratchboard. With over 30 years teaching experience Jan shares with her students all her knowledge and energetic joy in creative expression.

Mural for the Sunshine Coast Regional Museum

I illustrated a 30 ft historic mural for the Sunshine Coast Regional Museum in 2007. Since then I have participated every year as a presenter for Museum School. Gr 4-5 students spend the week within the museum doing history, science and art. I discuss my "job" of illustration, the research, layout and production. Each student gets to practice some related fine art skills. I do custom workshops for art groups demonstrating painting materials and fine art techniques.
