Karen is a southern alberta girl from a farm north of Picture Butte called Porkka's Corner. Her family moved to Lethbridge when she was 8 but she continued to have the best of city and farm life for many years. Nature has always influenced her life and her music. Nurtured by a diverse family record collection and school music programs, she grew up a self professed "band geek", influenced by all kinds of music... Classical, Big Band, World, RnB, Jazz and Folk. Fast forward many years later she brings all those influences together in her writing and recording with several projects.

It is great pleasure that I get to work one on one with people wanting to add music to their lives. Whether you are planning a career in music, prepping for auditions, refresh skills or starting from stratch, I will work with you to find a way for music to work for you. I teach mainly voice and saxophone (all levels) but do offer practical piano skills, theory, songwriting and improvisation (any instrument).
