Marie Timbers is a visual artist who has been painting for over 15 years. Her formal art training has included courses at the Toronto School of Art and The Haliburton School of Fine Art. Marie has shown her work in numerous juried shows and galleries in the York Region and Toronto areas. Her professional associations have included the Toronto Watercolour Society, the Society of York Region Artists, ACA Gallery, Ben Navaee Gallery, the Artists’ Network of Riverdale and the Tweed and Area Arts Council.
Initially a watercolour and acrylic painter, Marie’s paintings have evolved to include mixed media. Her images explore many themes, usually landscape based – impressionist and abstract in their design. Collage has been a natural progression as Marie strives to create three dimensional form and texture in her work. She uses found objects, man-made and earthly to create depth and a sense of mystery.
Marie is a new resident to the Belleville area and is a participant in the Tweed Studio Tour. The Moira River flows through her back yard and is a constant source of inspiration.
