Maria Saba is a multidisciplinary artist, practising dance, literature, and storytelling. As a performer, choreographer, and researcher in Persian Dance, she has drawn on her training in various world dances and developed a unique style of Persian Dance which emphasizes storytelling. Her performances have been well received in Canada and Europe. Maria has years of teaching women of all ages and abilities including persons with physical and developmental disabilities.

Featured Project

Girls & Dolls

"Girls & Dolls" features a piece I choreographed and performed with Liz Winkelaar, a fabulous dancer in wheelchair. The dance is based on theatrical games played by women in Iranian villages for hundreds of years. I have drawn on folklore research and choreographed the piece with strong elements of storytelling which appeals to wide audiences.
