Susanne Larner

After leaving art school, I felt that a traditional art-making path was not for me. I began my community arts journey while working as an educator and artist with ArtStarts in Toronto in the late 90s and have continued to create community-engaged art projects in Vancouver, Ghana, Prince Edward County, and now in North Grenville, ON. I am an active artist and founder of the Firelight Lantern Festival, based in Prince Edward County. In my work, I bring thoughtful and innovative projects to schools, communities, libraries, and private groups. Many of my projects are part of a larger creative event which includes collaboration from other artists, musicians, storytellers, and performers. Art is a community experience, and I believe that community involvement in the artist process weaves together a vibrant tapestry that connects us all. Art is medicine.
