“My Sunset-Land, ROJAVA” retells the tale of a heart-sore nomad (a Kamānche) from Kurdistan, where tunes are born in her every brief stop she takes for a nap while passing the unwanted confines of the torn land of the Kurds. Every morning before sunrise settles, Kamānche abandons the spot leaving a newborn Strān (song)…
Shahriyar Jamshidi’s latest released album includes 9 tracks 2 of his compositions for the Kamānche group and 7 solos mostly improvisations based on Kurdish microtonal modes. “My Sunset-Land ROJAVA” is dedicated to all women who lost their lives to free Kobanî in Rojava (Western Kurdistan) located in Northern Syria in 2015. The profits of the album contributed to support suffering Yazidi women from the recent genocide and war in Iraq.
