Yukon Media Development financially supports the film industry through programs that assist Yukon film and video professionals develop viable careers and businesses making films and videos for broadcast or commercial release.
Funding Programs:
Yukon Film Training Fund
Up to $10,000/person/year is available to Yukon residents for training for a career in film. Yukon-based industry organizations are also eligible to apply for funding to provide film-specific coursework.
Application deadline
We'll be accepting applications for the Training Fund for the 2026–27 fiscal year. We review applications on a 1st-come, 1st-served basis. The program is closed for the year once we've distributed all the available funds.
We'll begin accepting applications for the 2026–27 fiscal year on April 7, 2026.
Yukon Film Predevelopment Fund
You can receive funding up to 75 per cent of the eligible costs in your predevelopment budget, up to a maximum of $15,000.
Application deadlines
The deadline to apply for the 2026–27 fiscal year is 4:30 pm on May 12, 2026.
Yukon Film Development Fund
Up to $40,000 is available to Yukon residents or Yukon corporations to assist with the costs of development of film projects in Yukon.
Application intake
We will accept Media Development Fund applications for the 2026–27 fiscal year starting on April 28, 2026. The program is closed for the year once we've distributed all the available funds.
Yukon Film Production Fund
You can receive a minimum rebate of 25 per cent of your Yukon spend that we approve under the Media Production Fund.
The 25 per cent rebate increases by:
2 per cent for each Yukon resident filling a key position, beyond the required minimum of 3, to a maximum of 10 per cent.
Up to 5 per cent for projects where there's Yukon ownership.

Marketing Support
Marketing support is available to film and video professionals through the Enterprise Trade Fund to support business activity through market expansion and business development.
