Job Responsibilities:

This position provides instructional digital arts classes at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre to children focusing on the fundamentals of digital arts, including Minecraft and Coding. The successful applicant must be an independent, reliable individual able to work with minimal supervision and expected to assist in developing curriculum for digital arts programs.

Responsibilities include:

Preparing, leading and delivering digital arts classes in a Macintosh environment to meet the needs of all participants registered in the program
Assisting with research and development of appropriate digital arts programming for children ages 6 to 12 years, ensuring that digital art activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants
Providing a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants
To support Town department objectives and mandate

Qualifications/Skills:

Enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary program in Digital Arts or a related discipline
Demonstrated abilities and a strong knowledge of contemporary Digital Arts, trends and technologies
Experience developing lesson and activity plans for youth and adults
Previous teaching experience with Digital Arts in an educational classroom setting
Familiar with a broad range of digital techniques, technologies and practices with one or more of the following interests/skills: Graphic Design (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator); Digital Photography (Photoshop, Light room, Aperture); Digital Animation (Flash); Video Editing (Final Cut Pro); Sound and Music Recording (ProTools); Coding (Minecraft)
Must be familiar with a Macintosh environment
Strong organizational, planning, time management and leadership skills
Ability to be flexible and adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences
Ability to work independently
Successful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment.
