Martina Smazal

Stemming from Europe with over 30 years Professional experience as performer and teacher, I am passionate about teaching students from age 4 and up, of all levels, and witnessing them blossoming, whether they aim to pursue music as a career or a hobby they find very rewarding. I hold University Bachelor and Masters degrees and have received awards for both performance and teaching. I served as Principal of many orchestra sections, played chamber music with Juno and other Award winners and performed as Soloist in front of several orchestras across Canada. I have performed and toured across Canada, the U.S., Asia and within Europe and have been invited to judge competitions and adjudicate festivals across Canada. I am in the final stages of becoming an Examiner for the RCM across N. America and have served as Sessional Instructor, Summer Strings Director and Strings Co-ordinator at Universities and for School Boards in BC and Alberta, before moving to Winnipeg, and also was the recipient of the Alberta String Association's 2019 Teaching Excellence Award and Finalist of RCM's 125 Year Anniversary National Teacher All Instrument Award. I teach violin and viola privately and online and teach a variety of string and music related classes as part of my studio as well.
