Maria Epp

I am a Winnipeg-based artist, permaculture gardener, mother and community advocate. My art and nature walks have become my haven and refuge amidst a world of turmoil and instability. The earth reaches out to me as friend and teacher. It is here, with the wild weeds that I have discovered resilience and healing. My current work explores the colours and textures of foraged, hand-made plant and stone-based inks and paints. As I continue to work with these elusive, evolving materials I learn about place, about subtle eco-systems and the myriad uses of our ally plants.
I have been working as a community artist over the past 13 years. With experience facilitating groups of all ages in community centres, homeschool groups and home art parties, bringing my passion for the creative process to others is very natural for me.
