Founded in 1977, the Manitoba Band Association is a non-profit charitable organization which fosters, promotes and encourages the establishment, growth and development of bands and band activity in Manitoba.

​We are supported by a membership of music educators, music students, community bands, industry partners, organizations, and others who share our goals.

The MBA is affiliated with the Canadian Band Association, the Manitoba Music Educator's Association, and the Coalition for Music Education in Canada.

  • Music

    Baritone, Bassoon, Clarinet, Euphonium, Flute, French horn, Oboe, Saxophone, Sousaphone, Trombone, Trumpet

  • Field Trips

    The MBA Family of Festivals encompasses the following festivals in Winnipeg: a Concert Band Festival, a Jazz Band Festival, and a Level One Festival, as well as a Level One Festival in Brandon, MB. Additionally a Holiday Tuba Festival is held in Winnipeg annually in December, and Honour Band take place in Oct-Nov (Senior, for grades 9 -12), and a Junior (grades 5 - 8) and Intermediate Honour Band (grades 9 & 10) take place in April/May annually.

  • Professional Development

    A Mentorship program is provided for music educators who are in their first three years of teaching band. Additional professional development sessions (in-person & virtual) are offered throughout the year (often low or no-cost).

  • Performances

    A Community Band Festival is organized in Coronation Park in Winnipeg each June.

  • Camps

    Seven summer band camps are offered annually in a day camp format in six locations in Winnipeg and in Oakbank, MB over three weeks in August.

  • Workshops

    Several workshops are offered to members throughout the year.
