Manitoba Arts Council - Residencies

The Residencies program supports creation or research-based residency opportunities for professional artists in all disciplines. Applicants may apply for travel to have time and space in the Riding Mountain Artists’ Residency, the Churchill Artists’ Residency, or a residency opportunity of the artists’ choosing.

Saskatchewan Arts Board - Artists in Schools

Artists in Schools offers schools a chance to enhance arts-related activities that are linked to educational outcomes through partnerships with professional artists. The aim of the program is to expand access to meaningful artistic activities, increase student engagement in learning, cultivate cross-disciplinary learning skills and attitudes, and foster a lifelong interest in the arts.

British Columbia Arts Council - Co-op Placements

The Co-op Placements program assists arts and cultural organizations to hire students for professional work experience through co-op placement and work-integrated learning programs.

In order to be eligible, applicant organizations must:

  • Be an arts organization, museum, book publisher or Indigenous cultural centre that has received at least one grant since April 1, 2014 through BC Arts Council operating or discipline-specific project programs;

Jessamy Stursberg Poetry Prize

For Canadian youth, hosted by the League of Canadian Poets.

The  Jessamy Stursberg Poetry Prize for Canadian Youth was established to foster a lifelong relationship between Canadian youth and the literary arts, specifically poetry. The prize is supported through a generous donation from the Stursberg family and other donors in honour of Jessamy Stursberg. The prize accepts submissions from young poets all across Canada, with three prizes awarded in both the Junior (grades 7 to 9) and Senior (grades 10 to 12) categories:

Indigenous Arts & Stories

Eligibility

The contest is open to Canadians of Indigenous ancestry (self-identified Status, Non-Status, Inuit and Métis) between the ages of 6 and 29.

Guidelines

Create a writing or art piece that explores Indigenous heritage or culture.

Your entry into the Indigenous Arts & Stories competition must include a 200-400 word artist’s or author’s statement that includes a few words about you and explains how your piece explores Indigenous heritage and culture.
