2021 Petrichor International Music Competition

Abstract and Mission

   

The 2021 Petrichor International Music Competition will mark the first occurrence of this annual music contest, and will provide support, inspiration, and exposure to instrumentalists and singers from around the world. The competition includes four categories:

A) Young Solo Performers (under the age of 21, born after July 1, 1999)

B) Solo Performers (over the age of 21, born before July 1, 1999)

C) Composers (acoustic or electronic works)

D) Ensembles (2 or more performers)

The Canadian Art Inspiration Contest For Grades K–12

How to Enter
Apply below before June 30, 2021 at 11:59PM EDT. Awards will be announced in September of this year. Finalists’ artworks will be showcased in an online exhibition, and prizes will be awarded in different age groups (Kindergarten to Grade 3; Grades 4 to 6; Grades 7 to 9; and Grades 10 to 12), with $500 for first prizes and $250 for honourable mentions. CMEA Professional Awards

CMEA/ACME celebrates outstanding work by Canadian music educators. Our professional awards include the following:

Honourary Life Member

Recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to music education.

Jubilate Award of Merit

This award may be granted to an individual, a group of people, an industry, foundation, institution, or other organization in recognition for a significant contribution to music education in Canada.

Builders Award

CBC Short Story Prize

Finalists will receive $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and their stories have been published by CBC Books.

The 2021 prize will open in September 2020.

WHAT: You can submit original, unpublished fiction that is up to 2500 words. There is no minimum word requirement.

WHEN: The 2021 competition will be open for submissions from Sept. 1, 2020 to Oct. 31, 2020.

WHO: All Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.

Prologue Arts Champion Awards

In 2016, Prologue Performing Arts launched the Arts Champion Awards to recognize educators, community leaders and presenters who work tirelessly to ensure that young people have access to performing arts experiences. The award is made annually to at least one individual who exemplifies the vision that Prologue has supported for over half a century!

RBC Emerging Musician Program

Canada’s Walk of Fame is looking for the country’s best young musicians – the RBC Emerging Musician Program, (formerly the Emerging Artist Music Mentorship Program, Supported by RBC) is back for its 7th and biggest year yet! Submit a video or audio performance for your chance to win!

The Emerging Musician Program will select and support 5 winners from across the country by providing them with tangible real-world experiences designed to help elevate their music and careers in a meaningful and sustainable way.
