The-Write-Stuff Playwriting Competition for Youth

Submissions are now open for our second annual Playwriting Competition for Youth, The-Write-Stuff!

Québec-based playwrights aged 12-18 are eligible to enter, with a $500 cash prize awarded to the winning entry! Short-listed playwrights are provided with mentoring and dramaturgical feedback from industry professionals to hone their skills, talents, and confidence. Short-listed plays will be offered a professional staged reading featuring some of Montréal’s finest actors.

The Canadian Art Inspiration Student Contest

About The Canadian Art Inspiration Student Contest

Open to students from Grade 7 through Grade 12, the Canadian Art Inspiration Student Contest invites submissions of artworks inspired by or responding to leaders in Canadian art  history and major Canadian artworks. Applicants are encouraged to interpret this theme as broadly as they wish, and to  submit works in any media.

LFM Winter Sky - Online Music Workshops

A shared music experience is created through a collection of online instructional workshops for singers and instrumentalists. Each of the 10 different workshops includes 6 hours of instruction and have limited enrolment to allow each participant individual attention from the coach.

VIEW from the Inside is an award-winning program with the goal to empower youth, help to reduce the stigma of mental health issues, and build a sense of community in life’s challenges.

Within the carefully curated safety of the group, led by our accredited art therapists and teachers, mainstream, BIPOC, special needs and/or LGBTQ2S+ students benefit from creative arts therapies. Research shows these kinds of experiences can help to reduce anxiety and increase self-esteem and quality of life.

Victoria Guitar Society presents acclaimed classical guitarist Drew Henderson

Summer StudioWorks Intensive

Winnipeg Studio Theatre's Summer StudioWorks is a musical theatre program offering training in "triple threat" technique: acting, singing and dance to students ages 10 and up. Since its inception in 2004, Director Brenda Gorlick has amassed the finest roster of Manitoban musical theatre specialists. Program offerings include: vocal masterclasses, dance technique, mock auditions, original and show choreography, singing and songwriting, scene work, playwrighting, improvisation, voiceover technique, cabaret work, music interpretation, and more.

Join us at Arts Council of NewWestminster for Summer Sketching by the River during the month of August.

Local artist and experienced art teacher Sherida Charles will offer drawing tips as you capture the beauty and movement of the Fraser River.
