The Canadian Network for Arts & Learning is pleased to announce that we have received the support of the Azrieli Foundation as our Arts Education Professional Development Partner. Through this exciting partnership, The Network will be able to offer more valuable resources to Canada’s arts and learning practitioners through practical webinars, engaging roundtable discussions, a handbook for virtual arts instruction and increased focus on Canada’s Map for Arts & Learning.
The Canadian Network for Arts & Learning is pleased to announce a third series of online roundtable discussions for arts and learning practitioners to share the realities they are facing as we head into the second wave of the pandemic. We invite everyone to take part in the exchange as we discuss measures taken to virtually connect with students, audiences, other stakeholders and the public, how you foresee moving forward in your practice in the next few months and into the future, and other topics. We also hope to learn how The Canadian Network for Arts & Learning can further support the work that you are doing, and the sector as a whole, to ensure a strong future for arts and learning in the digital age.
The Canadian Network for Arts and Learning calls on governments, artists, educators, professional organizations, researchers, universities, communities, and all advocates of arts and learning to endorse the principles in the following document to ensure that the arts are positioned to make an increased and sustainable contribution to learning both at school and throughout our communities.
The Canadian Network for Arts and Learning congratulates Board Member Angela Elster on her appointment to President & CEO of The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the VSO School of Music.
The appointment follows an extensive international six-month search process led by VSO Chair Etienne Bruson, the VSO Board of Directors, and executive search firm Korn Ferry. Elster, who is currently Vice-President of the VSO School of Music & Community Programs, succeeds Kelly Tweeddale who left the VSO to become the Executive Director of the San Francisco Ballet in the summer of 2019.
The Network has committed itself to building a creative vision for the future of arts and learning and the following statement is offered to stimulate discussion.
The Canadian Network for Arts & Learning will embark on a three-year project to promote equitable access and engagement in arts and learning thanks to a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund. For the past three years, The Network has been constructing a national digital map, which now features more than 8500 arts and learning organizations, schools and practitioners.
