Guest Speaker: Dr. Cathy Miyata - Laurier Faculty of Education
Together we will explore how this ancient art form connects us as human beings; how it can be used as a teaching tool; how we use narrative to guide and reshape our lives; and finally, how it is recognized as a powerful research approach.
Starting in January, OAEA will begin a monthly speaker series featuring artists and educators who will demonstrate best practices and innovative ideas.

The ACC presents its Deep Winter Series to help see us through what might be a very dark winter. Each weekly session will offer an easy introduction to a creative activity that will activate your imagination and give you the opportunity to try something you may have never done before - or thought you were good at. Sessions are offered by professionals in the field of creativity and imagination, and all will start at a beginner level.
The “Joker” is the facilitator responsible for the Forum Theatre process. The person in this role leads participants as the play evolves, becoming the liaison between community “spect–actors” and the characters on stage.
This four-part workshop, led by award winning Forum Theatre artist Simon Malbogat and Theatre of the Oppressed facilitator Swetha Ranganathan, will teach participants how to use theatre games and exercises to create Forum Theatre with and for various community groups.

While the conference aims to include representation from all provinces and territories with active membership in CFMTA, proposals from non-Canadian applicants are welcome.
