ArtsNL is a non-profit Crown agency created in 1980 by The Arts Council Act. Its mission is to foster and promote the creation and enjoyment of the arts for the benefit of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
ArtsNL receives an annual grant from the Province to support a variety of granting programs, program delivery, office administration, and communications. It also seeks support from the public and private sectors. It supports the following artistic disciplines: dance, film, multidisciplinary, music, theatre, visual art, and writing.
The Professional Artists Travel Fund (PATF) is available to Individual Professional Artists, Collaborations of Individual Professional Artists, and Professional Arts Groups. This program supports travel costs for artists or groups that have been invited to take part in unexpected activities that will enhance their careers.
Such activities include:
- The presentation of the artists’ work in a new location.
- A regional, national, or international audition.
- The celebration of the artists’ work through an award or nomination.
This program is open to all artistic disciplines served by ArtsNL, including dance, film, multidisciplinary, music, theatre, visual arts, and writing.
Program Funding:
In the 2025/26 fiscal year, there will be a total funding allocation of $190,000 made available in the PATF.
Applications do not necessarily guarantee funding.
Guideline Changes:
The PATF is open year-round, and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and processed in the order received.
Due to increased travel costs, previous funding caps have been temporarily relaxed so applicants may apply to PATF based on the true cost of their eligible expenses.
Due to high demand for the PATF, full funding requests may not be awarded. PATF requests exceeding $4000 will be carefully reviewed, and more information may be requested.
How to Apply:
Applicants must register on the ArtsNL Online Application System before completing an online application form. Registration is reviewed by ArtsNL staff to confirm eligibility. Registrants will be notified via email when their registration is approved. This process typically takes up to two business days to complete. Additional information may be requested to confirm eligibility. Registration will not be approved until the requested documentation has been submitted and reviewed.
