Our fundraising evening begins at 7:00pm with an opening reception.

Passions are stirred in this creative fusion of jazz, gospel and choral music, highlighted by the Canadian premiere of Will Todd’s evocative Easter oratorio, Passion Music. Immerse yourself in the improvisatory stylings of John Sherwood, the soulful flair of songstress Melissa Davis, and the upbeat vibe of a jazz combo.

Indulge in the sweet nostalgia of Christmas! A memorable evening of joyous carols and tales, both heartfelt and light-hearted, narrated by Stratford and Shaw Festival’s Benedict Campbell, will add festive spirit to the coldest of winter nights in our land of snow, skates and sleighs. “One small step for man” – these powerful words launched a new era in humanity’s fascination with Earth’s original satellite. Embark with Orpheus on a choral journey marking this historic 50th anniversary, from the astonishing discoveries revealed by Galileo’s telescope to dramatic Mission Control accounts of the lunar landing. Explore time and space through the premiere of Canadian composer Tawnie Olson’s ‘That’s One Small Step…’ along with works by Leonard Enns, Ola Gjeilo, Voces8, and more!

Featuring carols with a twist, new arrangements of old favourites and brand new music, this concert promises laughter and delight as the CMC lights up the season!

One spoonful of spook

A dash of youthful wonder

Mixed only on a midnight

Of lightning, rain, and thunder

A drop each of doom, death, and dread

An ounce of make believe

Stirred to the haunting sound

Of singing voices, barely perceived

At first - but then grown louder

'Til full, and rich, and strong

Brought forth by this concoction

The CMC delighting with song!

Esprit’s opening concert, I Hit My Head and Everything Changed, an impactful evening of music, will leave the audience “seeing stars”. Taking place on Sunday October 6, 2019 in Koerner Hall, the concert begins with a blast of orchestral sound in Thomas Adès’ Overture to “The Tempest”. The World Premiere of the title piece by Brian Harman, I Hit My Head and Everything Changed, is an artistic collaboration between Harman and artist Moira Ness.

Come visit North Etobicoke and York in the City of Toronto this summer to get a taste of the vibrant arts culture these communities have to offer. This program has been celebrating the extraordinary abilities of Torontonian artists since 2014. Over 100,000 people have attended Cultural Hotspot programs, exploring local art organizations, libraries, and community projects.

Orpheus gives Artistic Director Robert Cooper a well-deserved break after 15 years with the Choir.  Over the past 6 months, Orpheus’ audience voted online to choose the program for our season closer. The most popular selections will be revealed at this unprecedented concert.  From jazz-inspired songs, to music from around the world, to works for choir and organ, to new Canadian commissions: we’ll have a style and a song for everyone.
